Dragging Canoe is my 6th great-grandfather.

I’ve been researching my family history for several years now. I’ve found a number of surprises – more than I can count. Sometimes it gets to be a little overwhelming. Having a famous – or infamous – family member makes it easier to find information.

Dragging Canoe (Tsiyu Gansini) was a war chief who was born in 1738 to Cherokee diplomat Attakullakulla (Little Carpenter) and Ali-ani-waya.

When Dragging Canoe was a little boy, he wanted to be a warrior.
